When I was a kid, my siblings and I would sit in deep discussion about the things that we would save if our house were to ever be on fire. As we got older, the things we believed we couldn’t live without changed. My attachment to my stuffed animals faded and gave way to my guitar and later my kids claimed the coveted spot on my priority list.
Following God
Running Tired
A shortened version of this post originally appeared on Christian Mommy Blogger. I am unfortunately really struggling with my fibromyalgia as a result from the car accident and so to give my concussion some time to heal, I thought I’d share these thoughts with you since the topic of living significantly is so important. We’d appreciate your prayers as we try to heal!
I was on the receiving end of some mommy judgment recently. It was beyond stupid since, like most mommy judgment, the subject really didn’t matter. It got under my skin, though, since I’m running tired. And by running tired, I mean feel like I could collapse at any moment kind of exhausted.

Last week was a really hard week as we’ve been recovering slowly from the accident last Saturday. It’s made me appreciate the gift of each day and want to make the most of all the time that we are given.
In light of all this, I wanted to share a quote by one of my heroes:
How Do You Spell “Humility”?
So, ummm… I’m feeling really dumb right now.
And I think God has been laughing for about a month. He’s been waiting for me to notice the lesson He put right in front of me.
Some of you might have noticed. Some of you noticed and clicked on it.
The Pursuit of Happiness
There’s been a lot of conversation floating around about happiness lately. Much of it is due to Victoria Osteen’s comments about God being happy when we are happy (more on this later!), but the truth is that our culture has been chasing happiness since this nation’s inception. Even our Constitution includes the phrase about man’s inalienable rights: “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
Our culture has pervaded the church and somehow we bought into the lie happiness is one of the best things we can attain. We can’t detach it from the concept of the American dream. If we are completely honest with ourselves, we are probably all chasing some semblance of this.
Where Is This Going?
I’m usually quite a planner. If I have an idea of where stuff is going, I’m okay. But, throw me in a situation where anything could happen… well… let’s just say I’ve been known to dissolve into a useless puddle of tears and indecision.

One of the first primarily philosophical books on Christian thought I ever picked up was Escape from Reason by Francis Schaeffer. I started reading it during the end of high school and the beginning of college as I was being challenged about my worldview.
The interesting things about worldviews is that we all have them and we are oftentimes unaware of them and yet, they color everything we see to the point that true objectivity is probably just an ideal. It is impossible, to say the least, to separate out our experiences and cultural history from our thoughts about things if we fail to think through them and give them adequate consideration.
Forest Through the Trees
I’d like to apologize for the unexpected absence of a post last week; we were traveling and I planned on having wi-fi when I needed to finalize the article and schedule it… obviously, you can tell I misjudged things! But, it has given me time to ponder something things…
Why I Turned Off the TV
Helping Without Hurting
I went to the grocery store and as I was leaving, there was a bottleneck of people trying to get out the door. As I trooped through trying to avoid nailing some poor soul in the Achilles tendon with my cart, I realized what the problem was: a woman was blocking half the walkway directing shoppers out. The big rug wasn’t lying completely flat and there was a bump since the edge was folded under. The lady had decided that this was a safety hazard and was telling everyone to watch their step while trying to direct traffic around the mat. She was saying she had called one of the employees to rectify the situation.
